“Somewhere along the line government stopped listening. It stopped treating people as human beings who deserved dignity and value. Too much of county government feels like a maze for people who just want answers.”

Meredith’s Vision

Protect the Protectors: Support Local Law Enforcement

Today, our safety is threatened by a dangerous movement committed to defunding the police. Meredith knows the women and men of law enforcement place themselves in danger each day to protect their community and ensure our area is safe. As a member of County Council, Meredith will stand with police. She will ensure our officers have the equipment they need and the support of elected leaders when they do their job right.

Hold the Line: Prevent County Tax Hikes and Deliver On-Time, Balanced Budgets

While Allegheny County taxpayers continue the struggle to fix a broken, unsustainable property tax system, County Council members must be vigilant to hold the line against tax increases and spending. Meredith is committed to supporting balanced, on-time budgets that prioritize public safety, infrastructure, and services to children and families in the deepest need. When elected, she’ll join the growing, pro-taxpayer faction on County Council opposed to raising taxes on working families and retirees. She’ll always put taxpayers first.

Restore Trust: Provide Accessible, Responsive Constituent Service

Meredith knows that every unanswered text, phone call, or email deepens mistrust between taxpayers and government. Too often, that is the way government operates locally. As a member of Allegheny County Council, she will be committed to creating a constituent-centered approach to serving citizens—accessible, responsive, and accountable.

Support Parents: Find Solutions for the Paid Family Leave Crisis

This past year, the COVID-19 crisis exposed countless Allegheny County families to a troubling reality—the lack of adequate financial resources to care for sick family members and loved ones. As a member of County Council, Meredith will fight for good laws that encourage family-friendly leave policies to give mothers, fathers, and families the time they need. As state and federal lawmakers debate policy solutions, Meredith believes county government should play an active role in developing a plan that helps families, protects business owners, and keeps solutions as local as possible.

Boost Cooperation: Connect Resources Between County and Local Government for Infrastructure Improvements

Meredith will be a tireless advocate for Allegheny County and its infrastructure. As a member of Allegheny County Council, she will improve collaboration between county and local governments, and participate in regular meetings with local elected officials to provide a consistent, accurate assessment of community needs.

Meredith Dolan is a wife, working mom, activist, and person of faith.

Ironically, she’s probably as passionate about great books and needlepoint as she is about her high school and college soccer career. As a Congressional intern, aide, and eventually chief of staff, she’s running for Allegheny County Council (District Three) to bring her experience and contagious love for people to Grant Street.
